Cup – Dublin 1717

William Bell’s mark appears on this cup, hallmarked Dublin in 1717 — early enough in the Georgian period that its plainer lines likely reflect the more architectural style silversmiths favoured before heavier ornament returned later in the century. At 622g and 14.5cm tall, it has genuine early-18th-century substance, a rare early Dublin-marked piece rather than a common London one.
