A good large George III silver pepper or spice caster, which stands on a square foot leading to a tapered baluster body. The caster is hallmarked on the body and the pull-off top and is engraved with a pretty family crest of a dove with an olive branch, a dove of peace. The caster is in excellent condition and made by a specialist maker of casters James Mince. It still bears its original scratch weight of three and a half ounces underneath the foot. Dimensions, height 16.5 cm.
