A pair of fine Georgian neoclassical candlesticks which stand on oval bases with fine bead decoration. The bases, stems and sconces have delicate fluted decoration. The nozzles are detachable, original, and correctly hallmarked. The candlesticks bear the incuse mark of George III (tax mark) which was only used for the years 1784-85 (sometimes 1786 in the provinces). Tax was introduced in 1784 on the silver to help pay for the wars in America. They both retain their original mahogany inserts, which is a nice feature. The candlesticks are in good condition.
