A large Mexican metalware wine cooler of Scandinavian style, in the form of a vase. The wine cooler has plain tall sides with a flared rim and two fruiting vine drop handles. It has an applied openwork band with clusters of grapes and scrolls, onto a spreading circular foot. Codan of Mexico City was famous for making Scandinavian designs, and this certainly has a Georg Jensen feel to it. This item is a fair bit larger than most wine coolers. Mark of Codan, incuse marks MEXICO STERLING 925 and eagle mark numbered 7 for Mexico City. Dimensions: height 31.11 cm, width 25.40 cm; weight 74 troy oz.
