Pair of Sauce Boats Sheffield – 1909

These exceptional antique sterling silver sauce boats are of oval form in a classic style. The shaped body of each piece is plain and unembellished, with an applied gadroon and shell-decorated border to the shaped rim. The sauce boats are fitted with exceptional cast sterling silver opposing scroll handles, featuring a leaf-decorated scrolling thumbpiece. The boats are supported on impressive cast feet. These sauce boats are a direct copy of 1740/50s originals by Lamerie and other important makers . They are heavy with a large capacity. Each sauce boat holds approximately 550 ml, nearly 1 UK pint , together 1100 ml , 2 UK pints.
