From the Royal Mint to the Silver Vaults
The company was founded by John Surtees, whose passion for precious metals began in 1968 at The Royal Mint. Following a distinguished career managing one of England’s most respected silver manufacturing firms, John established his own retail premises in 1994.
Today, the business is managed by John’s son, Simon Surtees. Having started his apprenticeship in the Vaults at just 16, Simon has spent over 20 years immersed in the trade. He continues the family legacy, curating a collection that respects traditional English craftsmanship while embracing modern tastes—from our signature Saturno enamel miniatures to sleek, contemporary barware.
Our Home: The London Silver Vaults
We are proud to call the London Silver Vaults our home. Located deep beneath Chancery Lane, the Vaults are a unique subterranean shopping destination with a history dating back to 1876. Originally built as a stronghold for the wealthy to store their valuables, it has evolved into the largest retail centre for silver in the world.
