John Surtees began working with precious metals at the Royal Mint in 1968, before a long career at world-renowned manufacturing silversmiths C.J. Vander. In August 1994, he opened his own retail premises, unlocking one of the iconic ‘one ton’ safe doors in Chancery Lane’s London Silver Vaults.
He and his son Simon have been there ever since, dealing in antique and modern silverware, from Georgian pieces to commissioning the next generation of British silversmiths to create one off works of art.
John and Simon are both proud freemen of the Goldsmith’s Company, which has ensured gold and silver standards since 1327.
